HKS WebContent is, surprisingly enough, the HKS web content management system. This system allows you to add, remove, and change all of the content on your website in as many languages as required. For companies looking for a cost-effective web content management solution that provides flexibility and internal control, WebContent is the answer.
All of the features listed here are editable without calling in the technical people. The overall philosophy of WebContent is that you get full control of your website through the administrator interface.
For a complete view of the product functionality, review the User Guide.
Every page is linked to its navigation type and the navigation is modified separately from the page so that maintenance is made easier.
Graphics can be positioned in the template or added ad-hoc. Any graphics positioned in the template are selected on a page-by-page basis so they can be edited separately from the page content.
Each page in each language can be selectively enabled. This allows for translation of the English website while it is live. It also allows for a review cycle on a staging server before the material is migrated to the production server.
The XStandard update screens allow you to cut-and-paste from Microsoft Office documents and to edit information in a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) format while retaining the structure of CSS. This allows anyone in the organization to create professional-level web content and keeps control of the website where it belongs — with the people in your organization.
When a user selects a non-Default language the web browser gets a cookie added that defines the user's language preference. This language is used whenever that browser views the site again. This is useful when some parts of the website have not yet been translated... the content will be displayed in the default language (usually English) and then revert back to the user's preferred language when it is available.
If you have multiple but related web sites you can link them using WebContent Contexts. This allows you to have multiple sites with different branding pulling the same WebContent. This is single-sourcing at its most efficient.
Well, it’s not infinite, but the language support in WebContent is extensive. All items on the website, from the smallest form label to the global navigation, can be edited in as many languages as defined. The character sets currently available are the Microsoft Unicode sets.
Each page can have versioning turned on or off and for pages where versioning is enabled there can be multiple versions of the page with any one of them enabled for viewing on the website.
There are three user levels available on the administration tool ranging from global administrator to context user. Each different user level has a different level of access on the system.
Approvals are based on the versioning and user levels. Only certain user levels can enable publishing on versioned pages.
The on-line ad tracker allows you to host ads for third-parties and track their display (counted as impressions) and click-throughs. Since the site counts click-throughs you have evidence you can use when discussing traffic and referrals from your site.
News articles are used to control the display and access to types of information. They are also used to present fresh, dynamic information on the home page in a controlled way.
The email newsletters allow you to reach your subscriber list with relevant content hosted on the site. These newsletters track how many times they are opened and how many click-throughs each article gets.
Subscribers can change their own information or the site administrator can do it for them. These subscribers are used for determining whether the viewer can see protected content and for emailing newsletters.
Quick polls are fun, single question polls attached to newsletters. When the user clicks on an answer he or she is taken to the results page to see what the other newsletter subscribers think.
Job postings are structured job lists for one or more business units that are edited graphically, similar to WebContent pages and newsletters. The list of jobs can be embedded in any WebContent page.
Information request forms are used to gather information from users and have it emailed to site administrators. The information is both saved in the database and emailed to the specified people (editable through the admin interface).
